SUO Challenge 104: Clean and Simple!

8 / 26 / 148 / 25 / 14

"Clean and Simple" – also known as CAS – is a style of greeting card that most of us have tried at one time or another.  A Clean and Simple card is one that doesn't have a lot going on with it.  It can have layers and it can have embellishments.  But basically with a CAS card, anything that's part of it helps us all focus on the single important element in the card, including in many cases lots of clean space that forces our eye towards that focal point.  Your challenge for this SUO Challenge is to make a Clean and Simple card.  Once you have your project done, post a photograph of it on your blog or in any other open online gallery, and then add a link to our Link Tool at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions about linking your project or problems in creating the link, be sure to let the challenge coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, know.

If you need some inspiration to get you started, and for different ways that our Design Team Members interpret "Clean and Simple," why not start with their fun designs!!

To participate in our challenge, make a card or other paper-crafted project and post a photo of it to your blog or a gallery on the internet.  Then come back here and use our link tool at the bottom of this post to share the photo with us.

PLEASE remember this:  We’re looking for projects posted to the internet AFTER August 25, 2014.  This is a NEW challenge!  AND please mention/link to the SUO Challenge Blog in your post!

And, of course, your projects should be made with Stampin’ Up! products only.    The products may be those that are in current catalogs, or they may be retired products.  But (as our blog title says) SUO – Stampin’ Up! Only!  This means that products from other papercrafting, rubber stamp, die-making or other companies may not be included in your project or in any other project included in your blog post if Stampin’ Up! sells a like product.  For example, Stampin’ Up! does not sell sewing thread.  So use of sewing thread from another company is just fine.  Stampin’ Up! does sell the Sizzix Big Shot, so use of die-cuts, texture plates or other such products from another company is not fine.  If you have a question, please send an e-mail to our Coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, and she’ll be glad to answer it!

Challenge Dates:  August 26, 2014  (3 am USA Eastern Time) –

September 6, 2014 (6 am USA Eastern Time)

SUO Challenge 103 – Geometrical – Our Top 3!

8 / 25 / 14

Thanks to everyone who participated in our challenge to feature fun Geometrical shapes in their projects.  Lots of fun favorites!

Thanks especially to our Top 3 whom we felt did the best job of capturing our theme for the week!  Click on the pictures of their projects to go to their blogs or galleries for more details.

Nancy Littrell.  Now what fun is that to have a triangle shaped card to perfectly accent those Christmas trees!?  Yes, we asked for Geometrical, but Nancy's card is over-the-top perfect for this challenge.  Nancy commented about making her colors brighter – but we all thought the colors she chose were perfect for this card!

Cindy Brumbaugh.  The triangles in Cindy's card add a perfect "native American" feel to the card with the feathers. We love not only the bright, festive colors, but also the black mats and Candy Dots that really make the whole card "pop."

Helen H.  This card has a darling "sneak peek" at a new set of framelits in the Holiday Catalog. We love how Helen used one of them to make her arrows.  But if that wasn't geometrical enough, Helen added a cylindrical treat holder using the same design.  Wow, a 3-D geometrical shape!

SUO Challenge 102 – Favorite New Toys – Our Top 3!

8 / 25 / 14

We're a bit delayed in this particular Top 3 post – that you all for your patience!  And thanks to everyone who participated in our challenge to feature their favorite new Stampin' Up! "Toys" in their projects.  Lots of fun favorites!

Thanks especially to our Top 3 whom we felt did the best job of capturing our theme for the week!  Click on the pictures of their projects to go to their blogs or galleries for more details.

Narelle Ferrugia.  What a great Blackberry Bliss and white base with the touch of Hello Honey.  A great combination, and beautifully accented with Narelle's favorite new Beautiful Bunch stamp and punch.

Michelle Long.  Doesn't this layout look familiar?  Yes, both Narelle and Michelle used the same online sketch challenge for their projects this week.  Michelle's project features her favorite new toy, the Typeset Designer Series Paper set, and she has used it her design so well, including in the rose bud which is her featured flower.

Julia Quinn.  Julia's project is the product of another online challenge – aren't challenges fun!!?! – and she decorated a favorite new toy, the Gift Card Enclosure, with a lovely belly band accented with another new set of toys, the Flower Patch stamp set with the coordinating Flower Fair framelits.  So much fun with all those new Stampin' Up! products!

SUO Challenge 103, Make It Geometrical!

8 / 12 / 148 / 11 / 14

When someone says, "Geometrical Shapes" to me, I think about any shape other than a rectangle, square or circle.  Of course, all of these were covered in MY courses in geometry, so they're certainly geometrical shapes.  But this time, your challenge is to focus on a shape(s) other than those three and include the shape(s) in your challenge project.  Once you have your project done, post a photograph of it on your blog or in any other open online gallery, and then add a link to our Link Tool at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions about linking your project or problems in creating the link, be sure to let the challenge coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, know.  We cheerfully help crafters out just about every challenge, so don't be bashful about asking for help!

If you need some inspiration to get you started, why not start with our talented Design Team's gallery!
