SUO Challenge #91 – Banner Fun!

2 / 25 / 143 / 10 / 14

Right now there are all kinds of banners in Stampin' Up! catalogs!  There are stamp sets and punches and framelits – and even some kits – that feature banners in one shape or another.  You challenge this time is to make a card or other papercrafted project that features at least one of Stampin' Up!'s banners.  Once you have your project done, post a photograph of it on your blog or in any other open online gallery, and then add a link to our Link Tool at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions about linking your project or problems in creating the link, be sure to let the challenge coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, know.  We cheerfully help crafters out just about every challenge, so don't be bashful about asking for help!

Of course we have guidelines and they are detailed at the left and summarized below,, including the dates that this challenge is open.

Please remember this is an SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) challenge.  Projects using non-SU! images, paper, embellishments, etc., will be removed.  We also ask that you do not have advertisements for products (e.g., classes and subscription services) in your post.  Please respect our criteria.

And now on to some inspiration from our talented design team for this week's challenge!

To participate in our challenge, make a card or other paper-crafted project and post a photo of it to your blog or a gallery on the internet.  Then come back here and use our link tool at the bottom of this post to share the photo with us.

PLEASE remember this:  We’re looking for projects posted to the internet AFTER February 24, 2014.  This is a NEW challenge!  AND please mention/link to the SUO Challenge Blog in your post!

And, of course, your projects should be made with Stampin’ Up! products only.    The products may be those that are in current catalogs, or they may be retired products.  But (as our blog title says) SUO – Stampin’ Up! Only!  This means that products from other papercrafting, rubber stamp, die-making or other companies may not be included in your project or in any other project included in your blog post if Stampin’ Up! sells a like product.  For example, Stampin’ Up! does not sell sewing thread.  So use of sewing thread from another company is just fine.  Stampin’ Up! does sell the Sizzix Big Shot, so use of die-cuts, texture plates or other such products from another company is not fine.  If you have a question, please send an e-mail to our Coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, and she’ll be glad to answer it!

Challenge Dates:  February 25, 2014  (3 am USA Eastern Time) –

March 8, 2014 (6 am USA Eastern Time)

2 / 11 / 142 / 12 / 14

Besides cardstock and paper and ink and embellishments, Stampin’ Up! provides us all with some great punches to use in making fun greeting cards, scrapbook pages, and three dimensional paper crafted projects.  Our challenge this time is to feature Stampin’ Up! punches in whatever project you’d like to enter in our challenge!  Once you have your project done, post a photograph of it on your blog or in any other open online gallery, and then add a link to our Link Tool at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions about linking your project or problems in creating the link, be sure to let the challenge coordinator, Robin Messenheimer, know.  We cheerfully help crafters out just about every challenge, so don’t be bashful about asking for help!

SUO Challenges 89, No Layers – Our Top 3!

2 / 10 / 14

Thanks to everyone who participated in our latest challenge. It was such fun learning how to make no layer cards in such different ways using a variety of techniques.

Thanks especially to our Top 3 whom we felt did the best job of capturing our theme for the week!  Click on the pictures of their projects to go to their blogs or galleries for more details.

Aimee Cretsinger.  Did you all notice that Aimee made her card with a stamp she made with Undefined?  What a great stamp and we loved her masking and the bright rainbow colors she used that go perfectly with this stamp.

Amanda Burditt.  Amanda also wowed us with her selection of rainbow colors, with the repeating word.  She did a beautiful job lining those words up and keeping them equidistant all down the line.  We especially liked the accent of the one word with glitter.

Super Stamp Girl (Crystal Komara).  This "sweater" with its rhinestone necklace is perfectly elegant!  Great "thinking outside the box" card!

SUO Challenges #89 – No Layers!

1 / 28 / 141 / 27 / 14

With all of the cardstock and papers, embellishments and tools many of us have at our disposal, most of us find it easy to create cards with at least one or two layers to accent our messages.  But this this Stampin' Up! Only challenge, our challenge is to make a card with NO layers!  Embellishments are fine.  But only that basic flat or folded card.

Once you have your card done, post a photograph of it on your blog or in any other open online gallery, and then add a link to our Link Tool at the bottom of this post.

A couple of notes based on what we found from the last challenge entries:

  • Please remember to mention and link to the SUO Challenge blog in your own blog or other online post.
  • If you wish to know more about a Design Team member project, just click on the team member's name below his or her photo to go to the blog where it's posted.  If you have questions, please ask the designer.
  • SUO Challenges is a commercial-free zone.  We realize that those of you who are demonstrators sell Stampin' Up! products and that's why you blog.  But please keep sales of tutorials or other non-SU! products out of the post that you use for your submission!

And now on to some inspiration from our talented design team for this week's challenge!
